Napier Emphasizes Confidence in Quarterback Anthony Richardson
On Wednesday, Florida head coach Billy Napier made his second appearance at SEC Media Days. Napier took the main stage early in the afternoon at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Nashville, Tennessee. He was one of fourteen SEC coaches speaking at the event.
Napier discussed a range of topics, including his expectations for the upcoming season, his team's strengths and weaknesses, and his vision for the future of the Gators program. He also addressed the recent quarterback competition and announced that Anthony Richardson will be the starting quarterback for Florida this season.
"Anthony has earned the right to be our starting quarterback," Napier said. "He has the talent, the work ethic, and the leadership qualities that we need in our leader under center. We're excited to see what he can do this season." Richardson is a redshirt sophomore who started three games for Florida last season.
Napier also discussed Florida's challenging schedule this season, which includes games against Utah, LSU, Alabama, and Georgia. He said that he is confident that his team is up to the challenge.
"We know that we have a tough schedule," Napier said. "But we're excited about it. We're looking forward to competing against the best teams in the country and showing what we can do."
