Bayern Munich Take First-Leg Advantage Over Arsenal in Women's Champions League

Schuller's Goal Earns German Giants Narrow Win

Bayern Munich claimed a narrow 1-0 victory over Arsenal in the first leg of their Women's Champions League quarter-final tie on Thursday night. Lea Schuller's goal in the first half proved to be the difference between the two sides at the Allianz Arena.

Arsenal Wasteful in Front of Goal

Arsenal had the better chances in the match but were unable to capitalize on their opportunities. The Gunners had a free-kick after the impressive Caitlin Foord was bundled to the ground by Maximiliane Rall and Frida Maanum's delivery, but it came to nothing. Arsenal also had a great chance in the second half when Vivianne Miedema was put through on goal, but the Dutch striker fired her shot wide.

Schuller's Goal Gives Bayern Advantage

Bayern took the lead in the 22nd minute through Schuller. The German striker latched onto a through ball from Lina Magull and fired a low shot past Arsenal goalkeeper Manuela Zinsberger. Bayern had other chances to extend their lead but were unable to find the net.

Second Leg in London

The second leg of the tie will be played at the Emirates Stadium in London on March 30th. Arsenal will need to score at least twice to progress to the semi-finals.
