Houston Texans pass rusher named AP Offensive Rookie of the Year
Watt taken 30th overall has been selected to the Pro Bowl six times and is tied with Michael Strahan for the most sacks 225 in a single NFL season
After a standout season with the Houston Texans, Watt has been named the AP Offensive Rookie of the Year. The 25-year-old Watt was a key part of the Texans' success this season, as the team finished with a 9-7 record and made the playoffs for the first time since 2019. Watt had a team-leading 16 sacks, which was tied for second most in the NFL. He also had 23 tackles for loss, 5 forced fumbles, and 4 fumble recoveries. Watt's performance this season was even more impressive considering that he missed the first two games of the season due to suspension. He quickly made up for lost time, however, and was one of the most dominant defensive players in the NFL this season.
Watt is the first Texans player to win the AP Offensive Rookie of the Year award since 2014, when Jadeveon Clowney won the award. Watt is also the first defensive player to win the award since Joey Bosa in 2016.
Watt's performance this season is a sign that he is one of the rising stars in the NFL. He is a talented pass rusher with a knack for making big plays. Watt is also a hard worker and a leader on the Texans' defense. He is a key part of the Texans' future, and he is poised to have a long and successful career in the NFL.
