What is Adaptation and Natural Selection?

Definition of Adaptation

Adaptation in biology refers to the process through which a species becomes better suited to its environment. It is the result of natural selection, which is a driving force behind evolutionary change. When the environment changes, populations will often undergo directional selection, favoring individuals that possess traits that make them more likely to survive and reproduce in the new environment.

Behavioral Adaptation

Behavioral adaptation refers to changes in an organism's behavior that enhance its survival and reproductive success. For example, a bird that learns to avoid a predator by changing its flight pattern is displaying behavioral adaptation.
