Former Rams Quarterback Departs for New Team

Stafford Replaces Goff in Los Angeles

On March 18, 2021, Jared Goff was traded to the Detroit Lions in exchange for quarterback Matthew Stafford. The move comes after weeks of speculation about Goff's future with the Rams.

Goff was selected No. 1 overall by the Rams in the 2016 NFL Draft and has been the team's starting quarterback for the past five seasons. He led the Rams to two NFC Championship Games and a Super Bowl appearance in 2018.

However, Goff's performance has declined in recent seasons, and the Rams have been looking for a replacement. They acquired Stafford from the Detroit Lions in a separate trade on Saturday.

Goff is now expected to start for the Lions, who went 5-11 last season. The Rams, meanwhile, will look to Stafford to lead them back to the playoffs.
