Pitching Prevails as the Tigers & Cubs Win on Tuesday, but the White Sox Lose

Detroit Tigers 4, Kansas City Royals 1

The Detroit Tigers defeated the Kansas City Royals 4-1 on Tuesday night at Comerica Park. Tigers starter Matthew Boyd pitched 6.1 innings, allowing one run on four hits and two walks while striking out seven batters. The Tigers bullpen then came in and closed out the game to earn a much-needed win.

The Tigers offense was led by Miguel Cabrera, who went 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs. Jeimer Candelario also had a good game, going 2-for-4 with an RBI. The Tigers were able to score four runs in the bottom of the first inning off Royals starter Brad Keller, and that was all the offense they would need tonight.

Chicago Cubs 5, Pittsburgh Pirates 2

The Chicago Cubs defeated the Pittsburgh Pirates 5-2 on Tuesday night at Wrigley Field. Cubs starter Kyle Hendricks pitched 6.1 innings, allowing two runs on five hits and one walk while striking out six batters. The Cubs bullpen then came in and closed out the game to earn a win.

The Cubs offense was led by Patrick Wisdom, who went 2-for-4 with two RBIs. Seiya Suzuki also had a good game, going 1-for-3 with a walk and a run scored. The Cubs were able to score five runs in the bottom of the fourth inning off Pirates starter JT Brubaker, and that was all the offense they would need tonight.

Chicago White Sox 2, Cleveland Guardians 7

The Chicago White Sox lost to the Cleveland Guardians 7-2 on Tuesday night at Guaranteed Rate Field. White Sox starter Lucas Giolito pitched 4.1 innings, allowing five runs on eight hits and one walk while striking out five batters. The White Sox bullpen then came in and allowed two more runs to score.

The White Sox offense was led by Gavin Sheets, who went 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs. Jose Abreu also had a good game, going 1-for-3 with a walk. The White Sox were only able to score two runs tonight, and it wasn't enough to overcome the Guardians' offense.
